Talent Show in Aid of Comic Relief

A mime artist, a dancing Chewbacca and a ventriloquist were just some of the wild and whacky talents on display at Lewes Old Grammar School on Friday, as they showcased their top-class talents to raise hundreds of pounds for this year’s Comic Relief.

Juniors from Morley House put on a day of fundraising fun for the campaign, which began with students and staff wearing red clothes to school and also saw pupils baking cakes and selling red noses to their peers.

The afternoon featured a special Talent Show, which saw children from Nursery up to Year 6 showing off sensational skills. Performances included everything from comedy sketches to magic demonstrations. For the musically inclined, there was also a piano solo and a folk guitar performance.

Contestants were judged by a panel of Year 12 pupils, who had starred in junior school plays and productions when they studied at Morley House almost a decade ago.

Carrie Whyte, Assistant Head at Morley House, said: “The children came up with a huge variety of entertaining acts which kept the audience applauding and laughing throughout. It was very hard to choose between them but it was great having the Sixth Formers back to help out.”

Ultimately, year 6 students Gracie and Isla beat off stiff competition to take home the prize after performing a show-stopping song-and-dance routine.
