Like other areas of our School we have chosen to restrict the size of our Sixth Form so that it is big enough to offer the choice and opportunities needed, but small enough to ensure that each pupil has an individualised curriculum. We are proud of being able to offer every Sixth Form pupil their first choice of subject combinations at A Level. Each student has regular meetings with their tutor or Head of Year to assess their progress and discuss problems they may have in dealing with the workload that A Level studies brings.

We are a co-educational school where you will learn to see your fellow pupils as peers and collaborators, studying, working and socialising together, just as you will in the world beyond school. We offer a programme of academic A Levels because we feel that this best suits our students. We believe that A Levels still offer a depth and rigour not to be found elsewhere. Their flexibility allows us to construct individual programmes to suit each pupil. They remain an excellent preparation for the good universities which are the natural next step for the vast majority of our leavers.

The Sixth Form is an important opportunity for you to develop the responsibility, self-discipline, and independence you’ll need in adult life. You’ll have the chance to take on leadership roles and you’ll be expected to take responsibility for your own learning, managing your workload and making the best use of your free lessons. In return, you’ll have the freedom to spend time socialising with friends in the Sixth Form House or to step out on the High Street to grab a coffee.

The final two Years at Lewes Old Grammar School offer a richly rewarding experience that prepares our students for university and beyond.  Outside of the classroom, there will be a club or activity to suit you. Whether it’s taking part in sport, dance, drama or music, the DofE Award, or heading off on an expedition overseas, there are lots of opportunities to spend time doing something you enjoy with friends. These provide an important balance to your academic studies, as well as the opportunity for a lot of fun and the chance to make memories which will last long after you’ve left LOGS. You’ll also gain important skills, such as teamwork and communication, plus the confidence of knowing you can set yourself a challenge and rise to it, all of which will ensure that you leave us well prepared for your future, be that university, a Gap Year, or the world of work.
