Reading Competition Sparks Imagination in the Junior School

For the Spark! Book Awards pupil competition this year, children across the UK were invited to choose their favourite shortlisted book and respond with their own unique interpretation.

In the Junior School at LOGS, we have been blown away by the enthusiasm and hard work that has gone into each and every response, with pupils bringing the shortlisted stories to life in extraordinary ways.

From charming ceramic otters inspired by the book ‘Jakub’s Otter,’ to a glowing paper mâché volcano based on ‘Into the Volcano,’ the thoughtful and joyful responses from the children at LOGS reflect the very heart of the Spark! mission: “To get all children buzzing about books, no matter their age or background.”

The Spark! Book Awards seek to inspire a love of reading in children by showcasing books where every young reader can see parts of themselves in the stories, whether through themes of neurodiversity, identity or relationships with friends and family.

Well done to everyone at LOGS who took part in the competition, the creativity in each and every response was absolutely fantastic and we look forward to receiving the results in the coming weeks
