LOGS Lights Up Lewes Bonfire Celebrations

Lewes bonfire night is the largest and arguably the most eagerly anticipated bonfire celebration in the country. Complete with torch-lit processions, burning effigies and dazzling displays of fireworks, it is estimated that almost 40,000 people travelled to the town to celebrate the annual event this year.

Organised by six bonfire societies who each create their own bonfires, costumes and procession routes, the annual Lewes bonfire night is always a highlight in the school calendar. As part of the event, staff and students from LOGS had the opportunity to walk alongside Borough Bonfire Society dressed as Tudors in the evening’s processions.

This year, LOGS took part in four separate processions as part of the bonfire night celebrations, including a memorial walk from Westgate Street to the War Memorial in darkness and a torch-lit procession throughout the town. Each procession was eagerly watched by onlookers who lined the cobbled pavements of the town, cheering on the parades as flaming torches, crackling sparklers and marching bands passed by.

Thank you to everyone involved in making the evening such a success, we hope that you enjoyed the bonfire celebrations.
