Junior School students kick off Anti-Bullying week by putting on a pair of odd socks

On 12th November 2024, Junior School students at LOGS took part in Odd Socks Day to mark the start of Anti-Bullying Week.

Supported by cBeebies presenter and Anti Bullying Alliance patron Andy Day, best known for his band Andy and the Odd Socks, the day raises awareness of childhood bullying and encourages people to celebrate their individuality by sporting their odd socks to work or school.

The theme for this year’s Odd Socks Day was, ‘choose respect,’ encouraging us to celebrate diversity and promote acceptance and inclusion. This year’s theme feels particularly fitting after the Anti Bullying Alliance recently reported that one in five school age children experience frequent bullying, with the numbers climbing higher for those with disabilities or special educational needs.

In the Junior School, it is important for us to help to spread the message represented by Odd Socks Day as kindness, courtesy and thoughtfulness are a defining aspect of a LOGS education. Our core values of working hard, being kind, getting involved and making a difference are instilled and celebrated every day.

Odd Socks Day has become increasingly popular since it was started in 2017, with over 5 million children getting involved in the initiative last year. This year, LOGS students even chose to get their pets involved by posing them for pictures wearing a colourful pair of odd socks!

Thank you so much to everyone who took part in this important initiative and helped to raise awareness for such an important cause
