ust before the Easter holidays, LOGS welcomed students from the Immanuel-Kant-Gymnasium in Germany for a five night stay in Sussex.
The group arrived in Lewes by train on Friday evening and reunited with their original exchange partners from LOGS’ visit to Heiligenhaus at the end of the Autumn Term.
The weekend ahead offered the perfect opportunity for LOGS students to show their exchange partners the best of Britain, with many of the pairs choosing to venture into London to explore to capital’s famous landmarks, while others chose to enjoy the slower pace of Sussex.
On Monday evening, the whole group came together for a fun-filled bowling night — a thoughtful nod to the German “Kegeln” evening that LOGS students had enjoyed during their visit to Heiligenhaus.
Throughout their visit, the German students fully immersed themselves in life at LOGS by attending lessons alongside their exchange partners and socialising with other students. It was a fantastic opportunity for both sides to learn more about each other’s classroom culture and day to day routine.
One of the highlights of the trip was undoubtedly the farewell breakfast on Wednesday morning, served by our wonderful catering team. Complete with eggs, sausages and more, the breakfast was a special way to end the exchange and allowed students to come together one last time before saying goodbye.
Head of German at LOGS, Miss Alpers shared her thoughts on the exchange: “It was a real pleasure to see our pupils engaging so positively with their exchange partners and bringing their language skills to life in such a meaningful way. I’m incredibly grateful for the headmaster’s ongoing support — especially at a time when many schools no longer offer exchanges. I truly believe that the experiences and friendships formed during the exchange will become lifelong memories.”
We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Immanuel-Kant-Gymnasium and welcoming more students to our school in the future.
