FORMER Masterchef winner and owner of Hove’s Etch restaurant Steven Edwards has teamed up with LOGS year 10 student Chanel Prichard to raise money for Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex.

Chanel was elected Seaford Young Mayor in May and movingly picked the Air Ambulance as her chosen charity to raise money for after learning about its dedicated medics when they were called to a road accident in 2018 in which her grandfather passed away.

She has now raised £950 but, planning to boost this further, she and her dad approached chef Steven to ask if he would offer a seven-course tasting menu for two that people could try and win in a raffle she is organising.

Steven readily agreed and now Chanel is hoping readers will enter so that she can raise as much as possible for the charity, which relies on donations to carry out its vital work.

Chanel said: “Because of what happened with my granddad, I learnt about the Air Ambulances and it really motivated me to make as much money as I can for them. It costs more than £14m to keep them flying and 89% of that comes from people who donate. I was so happy when Steven said he would help me raise more because his food is amazing! Hopefully loads of people will enter to try and win the meal and we will raise lots more!”

Steven added: “I am more than happy to help Chanel out by offering up our seven-course taster menu as a prize. I think someone her age working so hard to think of ways to raise money for the Air Ambulance service is just so impressive. This has been such a challenging year with frontline medics working incredibly hard to get us through so we are delighted we can contribute in some way.”
