Regional Success for Budding Linguists in Translation Bee Challenge

On Monday 9th June, six talented linguists in Year 8 and 9, accompanied by Miss Cotterhill and Miss Alpers, took part in the Routes Into Languages Translation Bee Regional Finals at Bath University. All students competed impressively and are to be congratulated for their hard work and dedication.

We are delighted to celebrate the following students, who won prizes:

Sammy (Year 8) – 1st Prize for French
Kazmer (Year 8) – 2nd Prize for German

Both of these students now progress to the National Finals at Cambridge University!

Special mentions also go to Thomas, C Thomas G, Zac and Ben who did very well in their rounds.

Translation Bee requires students to accurately translate as many sentences as possible in one minute into French, German or Spanish.

Approximately 3,500 students in the South of England started this competition in September. 58 of these made it to the Regional Finals and only 15 (including Kazmer and Sammy) got through to the National Finals.

Well done to these exceptional linguists!
