LOGS equestrian team trots out impressive start

With many school sports teams currently prevented from competing due to the pandemic, there was cause for celebration this month when the LOGS equestrian team took part in its first show jumping competition since lockdown.

Katie Latham, Isla Norman, Rhianna Hawkins, Ruby Norman and Frankie Walker travelled to Petley Wood Equestrian Centre near Battle to compete with nine other schools in the National Schools Equestrian Association show jumping qualifier in early September and entered the 85cm class (jumps height) and the 95cm class.

The pupils had a fantastic day and even though the standards were very high, managed a brilliant third place in both classes – and only lost out to second place by an unlucky pole down in each.

As there was a full team in the 95cm class, Ruby competed as an individual and finished on a fast, clear round and was impressively placed 6th out of a total of 48 riders.

We are hoping the National Schools Equestrian Association may extend the qualification for the championships to third placed teams – so watch this space.

LOGS Equestrian team has been running for a number of years now and this start to the season was very strong.

Thanks goes to the parents for entering and organising the team into this first competition. If anyone would like more information about how to join or sponsor the team, please email Miss Thorpe at thorpeh@logs.uk.com
