Cross country runners for LOGS proud

Congratulations to LOGS students who put so much hard work and effort into running in the Sussex Schools Cross Country Championships which took place mid-January 2022 at Waterhall in Brighton. Ten students represented LOGS across the different races, each of which had approximately 200 entrants from schools across the county. Our students represented the school in true LOGS fashion, adhering to our core values throughout the day and giving the races everything they had, tackling the tough hilly terrain with dedication. All runners finished the course and ran exceptionally well.

Olive Greenwood, Edie Hitchmough and Ava James competed in the Junior Girls event. Ava came an extremely impressive third. She will now run at national level at the English Schools Championships for LOGS in March and will also run the Schools Inter-Counties for LOGS in early February.

For the Junior Boys Billy McKay ran an exceptional race and finished ninth, he will also compete at the Inter-counties event alongside Ava. The inters team consisted of Daisy McDonald, Fin Rham, Fin Stokes, George Stone, Adam Alexander and Micah Papadopoulos. The team had to deal with a torn-up course but all finished in brilliant times and should be pleased with their performance.

On Friday the LOGS Junior Cross Country team competed at the Great Walstead Inter-Schools event. The junior girls’ team consisted of Olive Greenwood, Lila Meiland and Eliza Coles. The junior boys (team coming third place overall out of 12) consisted of Jude McKay, Louis Stokes, Miles Carrington, George Rowe, Bobby Harding and Sean Forrest. PE teacher Mr Sperring said: “Everyone has put in such a tremendous effort and it’s great to see pupils competing again after such a tough few years away from sporting events”.
