A Summer To Remember
What a term it has been. From parade routes through the streets of Lewes to an evening at a London culinary school, the summer term at LOGS has been full of moments worth celebrating. Here is a look back at some of the highlights from across the school.
Junior School
Patina moving on parade
Year 6 went out in style this term, taking part in the Patina Moving On Parade through the streets of Lewes. The children created their own costumes inspired by the Norse goddess Freyja – and the results were brilliant. Joining primary schools from across the town, the parade marked a significant milestone: the transition from juniors to seniors. A wonderful send-off for our Year 6 leavers.
Grandparent day
Grandparent Day is always a highlight in the Junior School calendar, and this year it was particularly special. Grandparents came in to share in school life and see the learning happening across the classrooms – and one visit stood out above all. One grandfather, himself a former LOGS pupil, found himself back in the very same classroom where he was once taught, now watching his granddaughter learn within those same walls. A full-circle moment that sum up everything that makes these occasions so meaningful.
Sports Day
The Junior School Sports Day delivered everything it always does – great energy, genuine teamwork, and plenty of smiles. It was wonderful to see the children cheer each other on, and the crowd of family and friends who came along to support made the atmosphere all the better. A brilliant afternoon all round.
Senior School
Whole school walk
Each year, staff and students come together for the Whole School Walk – a tradition that stretches back more than 20 years. This term was no exception. The walk is a chance for the whole LOGS community to enjoy the outdoors and raise money for charity, and everyone who took part should feel proud of their contribution. It is exactly the kind of event that captures the spirit of this school.
Senior Sports Day
Senior Sports Day was a standout afternoon. Students threw themselves into a full programme of track and field events with real determination and good humour, and the atmosphere throughout the day was brilliant. Whether competing or cheering, everyone played their part – well done to all involved.
Year 11 Ball
Congratulations to our Year 11 students, who marked the end of their time in the senior school with a wonderful prom evening. It was a fitting celebration of everything they have achieved at LOGS – we wish them all the very best for what comes next.
Sixth Form
Visit to Leith’s culinary school
Earlier in the term, our Level 3 Extended Certificate in Professional Cookery students visited the Leiths Culinary School in London. The group had a tour of the school and a cookery demonstration from Leiths teachers Pete and Belinda, who prepared a remarkable lunch. The students also got to see diploma students at work as they prepared live lobster. A genuinely memorable day and a real taste of where this qualification can take them.
Sixth Form Ball
The Sixth Form Ball was a lovely evening – a chance to come together as a community and reflect on a year well spent. To our Year 13 leavers in particular: we are proud of everything you have achieved during your time at LOGS, and we look forward to seeing where the next chapter takes you.
Prize giving
The summer term drew to a close with the annual Prize Giving afternoon, celebrating the achievements of students across KS4 and KS5. It was a fitting end to the year – a reminder of what makes the LOGS community what it is, where hard work, kindness and thoughtfulness are recognised in equal measure. Congratulations to everyone who received an award, and thank you to all who came along to celebrate with us.
