WHEN year nine Alice Dryden heard her LOGS Junior school was holding a Platinum Jubilee party, she rolled up her sleeves and decided to bake every pupil a cake – all 150 of them.
The 14 year old spent days cooking up batches of classic vanilla sponge fairy cakes and devoted a whole day to icing them – in red, white and blue of course.
She then delivered them to Morley House in time for the Jubilee celebrations on Monday (June 6).
Said Alice: “I wanted to contribute in some way in honour of the Queen who I know does so much for others plus I wanted to bring a smile to all my brothers’ friends’ faces at what was a beautiful celebratory party.
LOGS Junior headteacher Carrie Whyte added: “It was a typically thoughtful thing of Alice to do – she was a pupil her herself not long ago and so it was lovely to have her back – and the children absolutely loved her creations!”
Pupils at the school marked the Platinum Jubilee with games, singing and a fabulous traditional Maypole dancing session.
